A scenic hike through marmot territory
Looking for a peaceful and rewarding summer hike while staying at Hotel Valaisia? Our top recommendation is the Marmot Trail, a moderate route between Cry d’Er and the Cabane des Violettes, ideal for observing these beloved alpine animals in their natural environment.

From rocky outcrops to grassy meadows, the trail offers the perfect terrain for marmots—so keep your binoculars ready and tread quietly. With a little patience, you'll spot them sunbathing on the rocks or darting into their burrows.

The landscape here is rich in biodiversity, dotted with natural springs, wildflowers, and panoramic views over the Rhône Valley. The descent via Pépinet leads to Vermala and offers a direct look at some of the highest Alpine peaks: from Mont Blanc to the Mischabel Range.
